Additional Information

Lactate Dehydrogenase (LD) measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases such as acute viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, metastatic carcinoma of the liver, and cardiac diseases and tumors of the lungs or kidneys.  LD is “non-specific” in that it is distributed in most body tissues.

Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability

Centrifuge and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection

Primary tube: Spun SST stable 24 hours at  2° to 8° C

Serum stable 48 hours if aliquoted and refrigerated at 2° to 8° C
