Test Code LAB5367 Wright’s Giemsa Stain

Useful For

Wright’s stain is a Romanowsky type of stain.
It is a compound stain of polychrome-methylene blue and eosin.  The staining properties depend on the balance dissociation of the neutral complex; therefore, the pH of the water and buffer are important.  Giemsa’s stain uses purified dyes.  The azurophilic properties of the polychrome dye is preserved; however, the erythrocytes are poorly stained and the neutrophil granules are pale.  By using the Wright’s stain method and the restaining with Giemsa stain, the cellular structure appears sharp and clear.
