Test Code LAB5228 Clostridium Difficile, Toxigenic by PCR

Useful For

This test determines the presence of toxigenic Clostridium difficile, which means that the bacteria carries the gene for producing toxin.  This test does not specfically test for toxin production. The diagnosis of C. difficile associated diarrhea is made by combining a positive PCR test with a specific clinical presentation.
