Test Code LAB5063 Dilantin (Phenytoin)
Useful For
Phenytoin is chemically related to the barbiturates. Its anticonvulsant properties seem to be related to depression of seizure activity in the motor cortex of the brain. Metabolism of the drug may be accelerated by the concurrent administration of barbiturates and slowed by coumadin anticoagulants, disulfiram, phenylbutazone, sulfaphenazole and isoniazid.
