Additional Information
Salicylates are a class of analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory drugs that include aspirin. Salicylate overdose results in disturbances of the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract as well as encephalopathy and renal failure.
Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability
Centrifuge and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection
Primary tube: Spun SST stable 48 hours at 2° to 8° C
Serum stable 48 hours if aliquoted and refrigerated at 2° to 8° C
