Thoroughly instruct patient for proper collection of “clean catch” specimen.
FEMALE PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- Use the cleansing toilette to thoroughly clean the genital area before collection.
- To correctly do so, start by separating the skin folds around the urinary opening. Using your supplied toilette, cleanse the opening and surrounding areas going from front to back. This will help rule out cross-contamination.
- Uncap the specimen cup; be careful not to touch the inside of the cup or lid.
- While keeping the skin folds separated, start urinating into the toilet. Once you have a steady flow, move the cup into position to catch the remainder of the urine. DO NOT start collecting the urine until the stream is well established.
- Recap the cup, making sure the lid is on tight.
MALE PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- If necessary, retract the foreskin. Using the supplied toilette wipe, clean the penis by wiping the urinary opening.
