Special Instructions
- PCR method should not be used as a “test for cure.”
- Testing at RRMC is for 14 years and OLDER. 13 and under, check with Central Processing to obtain special collection media/instructions.
- Grossly bloody samples are unacceptable and may yield false positive results.
- Grossly mucoid samples are unacceptable and may yield false negative results.
Avoid sample contamination and/or presence of spermicide, lubricants or feminine hygiene powders

Specimen stable 2-8°C for up to 6 months or at 15-30°C for up to 4 weeks after the date of collection, post laboratory processing
