Stable for 24 hours at room temperature and 48 hours refrigerated (2-8*C).

Report Available

Final report at 24 hours if negative. Confirmatory testing of positive cultures may take up one week.

CRE Screens should only be ordered after consultation with Infection Control Practitioners.

Method Name

Culture screening using selective and differential media. Confirmation of identification and susceptibility testing using MALDI-TOF MS and MIC methods. Carbapenemase production confirmed at a reference laboratory using the Carba-NP test and the specific PCR methods.
