Useful For

The ESR is a non-specific test which indicates the presence of inflammation in the body.  The test is used as an initial screening tool and also as a follow-up test to monitor the effects of therapy and the progression or regression of disease.

Lavender top tube

Required volume 3.0 ml

Mix well by inverting tube 10 times

Specimen Minimum Volume

2.0 ml

 

Neonatal minimum volume: 0.5 mL whole blood each in 2 Lavendar top microtainers (MUST use BDMap microtainers)

Specimen Stability

Stable 12 hours refrigerated at 2° to 8° C
