Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability

Tubes of blood are to be kept closed at all times and in a vertical position. It is recommended that the serum be physically separated from contact with cells within two hours from the time of collection.

 

If serum samples are not assayed within 8 hours, samples may be stored at +2°C to +8°C for up to 7 days.  Frozen samples are not recommended.  Analyte deterioration may occur in samples that are repeatedly frozen and thawed.
