Specimen Requirements
Semen from ejaculate specimen in a clean, dry container. Keep warm.
Instructions to Patient for Collecting Semen
Specimens:
1. At least 3 days must have lapsed since the last sperm
emission (ejaculation).
2. Collect the specimen directly into a sterilized container
with a lid.
3. DO NOT COLLECT THE SPECIMEN IN A CONDOM.
4. The specimen should be brought to the laboratory within 1
hour of collection time.
5. A specimen brought from home should be kept at room
temperature. It must be kept from being overly warm or from
being chilled in order to insure the best examination results.

Additional Information
Analysis of seminal fluid for the presence of sperm only and percent motility if any are present.
This test is generally used after a vasectomy is performed.
