Additional Information
Calcium levels have important effects on blood clotting, nerve
transmission and muscle contraction. Calcium
measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of parathyroid
disease, bone diseases, chronic renal disease and tetany.
Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability
Centrifuge and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection
Spun SST is stable for 48 hours at 2° to 8° C
Serum stable 48 hours if aliquoted and refrigerated at 2° to 8° C
