Additional Information

SGGT is a specific liver enzyme that is elevated in obstructive liver disease and post-hepatic obstruction. Levels may also be elevated in other liver diseases (inflammation, alcoholism, cirrhosis, lesions and infectious mononucleosis).

Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability

Centrifuge and refrigerate samples within 2 hours of collection. Centrifuged serum should be separated from the red cells by either aliquoting or use of an SST tube.

 

Serum is stable 1 month at 2° - 8°C.
