Corneal scraping collected by physician.
Direct inoculation of culture media and microscope slides.
Inoculate room temperature media, making small
“C” marks on surface of agar with sterile spatula
used to collect scrapings, then apply remaining material to 2
clean glass slides for staining.

Monday through Sunday
Performed daily. Preliminary report: 24 hours; no growth cultures held for 5 days for detection of slow-growing organisms. If reflex testing is required, test results will be delayed.

Additional Information
Use: Isolate and identify pathogens from corneal scraping.
