Call for media delivery:

Corneal scraping collected by physician.
Direct inoculation of culture media and microscope slides.
Inoculate room temperature media, making small
“C” marks on surface of agar with sterile spatula
used to collect scrapings, then apply remaining material to 2
clean glass slides for staining.(If ordered in conjunction
with bacterial culture of corneal specimen, the second set of
slides may be omitted).

Monday through Sunday
Direct fungal smear within 24 hours. Preliminary report at 1 week, then weekly with final at 4 weeks. If reflex testing is required, test results will be delayed.

Additional Information
Use: Culture of corneal scrapings collected by physician for fungal pathogens.
Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability
