Useful For
HBsAg is the surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus and its presence indicates a case of acute or chronic hepatitis B. Additionally, this test is used to evaluate risk in needlestick injuries in health care facilities and guide use of hepatitis B immune globulin. It is also a part of the prenatal workup.
