10 mL preservative free urine
Fresh urine, first morning void if possible.
An aliquot from a 24 hour urine collection is not acceptable for testing.
Specimen Minimum Volume
1.0 mL preservative free urine (10ml is Preferred)
Specimen Stability Information
Stable 1 hour at room temperature
2 hours refrigerated at 2°-8° C
Reject Due To
Specimen at room temperature for greater than an hour
Specimens from 24 hour urine collection
Specimens sent in a Preservative
Lack of Two Patient Identifiers:
1-Patient's First & Last name
2-Patient's Date of Birth
QNS-Quantity Not Sufficient

Monday through Sunday
ASAP – 2 hours after receipt of specimen in the lab
STAT – 1 hour after receipt of specimen in the lab
Negative samples same day results.
Hemoglobin positive samples will report typically in 24 hours if specimen is sent for myoglobin confirmation
