81015 - Urinalysis; microscopic only, if indicated
Methodology
RRMC and TRMC: Automated testing using the iRICELL 2000 system.
Macroscopic testing is performed using test strips which are read by a dual wavelength reflectance system, specific gravity is determined by measuring the refractive index. Color is measured by transmitted light and clarity is measured by scattered light.
Microscopic testing is performed using an automated particle imaging system with manual review when indicated.
AACH: Automated by dipstick reader and manual microscopic.
Specimen Transport Temperature and Stability
Specimen is stable 24 hours when refrigerated at 2-8° C.
Reasons for Rejection
Quantity not sufficient (QNS)
Specimen at room temp over 2 hours
Specimen refrigerated over 24 hours (less than 6 hours preferred)
Lacking Two Patient Identifiers:
1-Patient's First & Last name
2-Patient's Date of Birth
Improper collection, “dirty catch” urine samples are not appropriate for testing
