Test Code LAB149 C-Reactive Protein (for Inflammation Monitoring)
Useful For
Blood levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) are known to rise rapidly from normal baseline levels of often <0.3 mg/dL to as high as 50.0 mg/dL as part of the body’s nonspecific inflammatory response to infection or injury. In more recent years, the utility of measuring CRP has expanded from its historical use as a sensitive marker of acute inflammation to include assessment of cardiac events and risk (See CRPHS for test explanation).
*Note: By local clinician demand, this test is reported in mg/dL, as opposed to the Cardiac Risk Assessment, which is reported in mg/L.
Note: For cardiac risk assessment, see CRPHS
