Test Code LAB147 Anti Nuclear Antibodies, ANA Screen
Useful For
The ANA is a screening test for Connective Tissue Disease, Autoimmune Disease and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. As with other ANA diagnostic tests, the results are to be used as an aid in diagnosis. Confirmed testing for specific antibodies should be run if a positive assay is obtained. A positive result suggests certain diseases and should be confirmed by clinical findings.
If ANA screen alone is requested, an ANA screen and double stranded DNA test will be performed at RRMC with NO reflex testing. If the ANA is positive and reflexing testing is then desired, the lab must be notified within 5 days so the specimen can be sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories for testing.
If ANAC1 is requested,an ANA screen and double stranded DNA test will be performed at RRMC.
If the ANA screen is positive, a Connective Tissue Disease Cascade 1 (CTDC1) will be sent as a reflex test to Mayo Medical Laboratories. Refer to the attached Connective Tissue Disease Test Ordering Algorithm for specific antibodies detected in this panel.
CTDC1: SS-A/Ro Ab, IgG, S; SS-B/La Ab, IgG, S; Sm Ab, IgG, S; RNP Ab, IgG, S; Scl 70 Ab, IgG, S;
Jo 1 Ab, IgG, S
If ANAC2 is requested, an ANA screen and double stranded DNA test will be performed at RRMC.
If the ANA screen is positive, a Connective Tissue Disease Cascade 2 (CTDC2) will be sent as a reflex test to Mayo Medical Laboratories. Refer to the attached Connective Tissue Disease Test Ordering Algorithm for specific antibodies detected in this panel.
CTDC2: SS-A/Ro Ab, IgG, S; SS-B/La Ab, IgG, S; Sm Ab, IgG, S; RNP Ab, IgG, S; Scl 70 Ab, IgG, S;
Jo 1 Ab, IgG, S; Ribosome P AB, IgG; Centrome AB, IgG
