Specimen Required

  • Vaginal, endocervical, or male urethral swab, first-void urine (patient should not have urinated for one hour prior to specimen collection), or cervical cells in liquid cytology vial.
  • One swab, 2 mL of a 20 mL to 30 mL urine collection, or entire liquid cytology vial
  • Gen-Probe® Aptima® swab or Aptima® urine specimen transport; ThinPrep® liquid cytology vial

 

NOTE: For urine samples; Samples can be collected and transported to Asante Laboratories in sterile containers however they must be transported to the lab within 24 hours of collection. If received over 24 hours in a sterile container the specimen will be rejected.

Specimen Stability Information

Store specimen at room temperature or refrigerate (2°C to 30°C).
