Collect nasopharyngeal specimen on a sterile, flocked flexible-shaft NP swab and place into 3 mL transport media.

 

The following transport media is acceptable for use:

Specimen Stability Information

Specimens should be collected and transported refrigerated. Specimens stable for 7 days at 2-8­°C.

Reject Due To

  • Specimens recieved exceeding stated stability
  • Specimens lacking two patient identifiers
    • 1 - Patient's first and last name
    • 2 - Patient's date of birth
  • Specimens collected using an expired collection kit.
  • Specimens transported at incorrect temperature.
