Transport to laboratory as soon as possible

Stable 24 hours refrigerated at 2°-8° C or Room Temp unpreserved

Lacking Two Patient Identifiers:
- 1-Patient's First & Last name
- 2-Patient's Date of Birth
Using BBL Culture Swabs for Tissue or Bone
Specimens received in preservative or specimen received in nonsterile container.

Monday through Sunday

Report Available

Preliminary reports are usually available at 24 hours.
Cultures that are from sterile sites and no growth are held 5 days for detection of slow-growing organisms. If reflex testing is required, test results will be delayed.
If for MRSA culture, Add rule/out MRSA to requisition.
