48 hours room temperature or refrigerated at 2°-8° C if an Eswab is used

- 1-Patient's First & Last name
- 2-Patient's Date of Birth
- Unsuitable specimens include:
- Cervical swab
- Endocervical swab
- Lochia
- Vaginal or vulval swab
- Urethral swab
- Perineal swab
- Bronchioalveolar lavage (unprotected)
- Endotracheal aspirate
- Nasopharyngeal swab
- Sputum (induced or expectorated)
- Prostatic or seminal fluid
- Tracheostomy aspirate
- Urine from bladder or catheter
- Stool (unless for infant botulism or malabsorption syndrome).
- Do not use swabs for fluid specimens
