Specimen Required

 

Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Specimen Stability Information

Centrifuge and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection.

 

Treponema total antibody is stable for 7 days at 2-8° C; RPR is stable for 5 days at 2°-8° C.

 

TP-PA is stable for 14 days at 2°-8°C.

 

If transporting to Asante is delayed, freeze the specimen; avoid freeze-thaw.

Reject Due To

  • Hemolysis
  • Lipemia
  • Quantity not sufficient (QNS)
  • Lack of Two Patient Identifiers:
    • 1-Patient’s First & Last name 
    • 2-Patient’s Date of Birth
